BOURBON & CORNBREAD is Brenda Boykin's first solo CD release since her departure from The Johnny Nocturne Band. On this recording Boykin is joined by jazz guitarist Eric Swinderman, and with this union the consumate duo is formed. Together they have produced a sixteen song CD of smooth blues and rough jazz. The Boykin & Swinderman arrangements of "Stagger Lee" and "Polk Salad Annie" are both imaginative and daring, and their 4/4 rendition of "The Tennessee Waltz" is nothing less than bold. This CD is full of fun and surprises.
